SOMERVALE SCHOOL PTA
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US…
Hello, we’d like to tell you a little about the Somervale PTA. Before you bypass this article and move on to other more ‘interesting’ things…keep reading!!
The Somervale PTA meet once a month and discuss lots of ideas to help the school and the children attending. We listen to everyone’s ideas and help out various departments, either with a cash donation or just supporting the teachers at various events such as Parents’ Evenings, presentation evenings etc…
We have donated cash and resources to various departments such as a varied selection of games to the library. These games were donated to the for the children to play at wet or cold breaks and lunchtimes. These games have taken on a life of their own and are thoroughly enjoyed by both children and teachers alike. The games have promoted a sense of team spirit and communication between all concerned.
We have donated money to the SEN department and supported Mr Bardzil, the head SENCO by helping to purchase and donate different equipment.
Digital cameras have been donated to the art department and Mr Cox, the maths teacher was well impressed when he received his new whiteboard recently!
As well as all the above, we organise the school disco, which the children enjoy and we are currently coming up with new and fresh ideas for the coming year which will involve both children, teachers, adults and families alike! Sssh though, it’s gonna be a surprise!!
We are an extremely sociable group and, as well as meeting once a month in the school staff room with some of the teachers, we also meet at various times just for a coffee at the Farm Shop or at one another’s houses to discuss not only committee business but also for a chat about life in general!
So, if you feel you have something to offer us and we know you do, ‘cos everyone has ideas, or if you’re just a generally nosey person who would love to know what’s going on in the school, how the 6th Form building’s coming along, what the next event is or just who’s on the Committee at the moment, then as long as you have a child at the school, you are more than welcome to come along to our meetings – dates are on our website.
