About the PTA

The Somervale School PTA committee is made up of staff, parents, guardians, carers and friends of the school plus sixth formers. We are a recognised charity and a member of the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations.

Membership

If you are a parent, guardian or carer of a Student or a staff member at Somervale School, you are automatically a member of the PTA.  The PTA also has Friends of the School that choose to become members.  With life being busy, there are several ways you can be involved:-

Elected committee member

Associated committee member

Bepoke adviser for a given event

Helper at an event

Background helper

As a committee, we meet every monthly (except for April/August) in the Staff Room unless otherwise notified. Our meetings start at 6.15 p.m. and usually last around an hour.  The purpose of the meetings is not only to discuss our next fund raising venture but also to receive school affair updates from Mark Kenny, Deputy Headteacher.  This is an excellent way of keeping in contact with what is going on in the school and provides an opportunity to ask questions. For details of our meeting schedule for 2009-10, please click here.

Involvement
You can get involved if you want to, even if you only have a small amount of time available. You do not have to become a committee member to get involved.

The PTA exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents, guardians, carers and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal. Any help is accepted and warmly welcomed however small.

Our thanks, as always, goes out to everyone who, without your help, the PTA would not be possible.

Volunteers are always needed to keep the PTA alive and to keep up the good work. This raises funds for the school and provides fun for the parents and students alike.
